About the Malaga depot
A specialty scrap yard,
not a general scrap yard.
Malaga · WA 6090 · since 2013 Drill Bits Recyclers opened its Malaga yard in 2013 and has operated continuously from 2/89 Pavers Circle since then. The site is one of the few specialty-metal scrap yards in Western Australia – built around a 2,400m² hardstand, a 60-tonne in-ground weighbridge, two on-site Niton XL5 XRF assay stations, and a sealed-container yard for IP-sensitive consignments.
The Malaga yard is the company’s headquarters: the weighbridge, the lab, the bin yard, the dispatch desk and the public drop-off all run from the same site. Every regional run – Pilbara, Goldfields, Kimberley, Mid-West and South-West – terminates at this address. Every traceability PDF we issue carries this yard’s batch ID.
We are owner-operated, with the founder still on the sort floor most days. The team holds combined experience of over 60 years in WA specialty metal – carbide, stainless, nickel alloys, copper and precious – across both upstream tooling supply and downstream smelter relationships.

- 02 / Step Over the weighbridge Gross-in on the 60-tonne NMI-certified weighbridge. Printed docket on arrival, photographed before sort.
- 03 / Step XRF & PMI on site Niton XL5 for carbide and precious, PMI for stainless & nickel. Grade-called and signed off before sort or payment.
- 04 / Step EFT or cheque Walk-ins under $2k can take a cheque on the day. Otherwise EFT within 48 hours of you signing the assay - traceability PDF lands with the funds.

The Drill Bits Recyclers Perth depot is located at 2/89 Pavers Circle, Malaga WA 6090 – five minutes off the Tonkin Highway in the Malaga industrial precinct. The yard is approximately 18 minutes from Perth CBD and 18 minutes from Perth Airport. Entry is via Pavers Circle, with B-double turning room inside the gate.

The Malaga depot is open Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 4:00pm AWST. We are closed on Saturdays, Sundays and all Western Australian public holidays. The weighbridge closes at 3:30pm to allow time for assays and dockets before close – please aim to arrive by 3:00pm if you need a same-day result.

No appointment is required for walk-in drop-offs of any size – single drums, ute loads or trailer loads are welcome any weekday during opening hours. For loads over 5 tonnes, B-double deliveries, or any drop-off involving DG-class materials, please call ahead on 08 6377 8793 so we can have the right tip bay clear and the assay station ready.

Yes – we offer next-business-day pickup across all Perth metropolitan suburbs from Joondalup in the north to Rockingham in the south. Pickups are free for confirmed quotes above 200kg; smaller loads can be charged a small mobilisation fee or rolled into a bin-swap visit. Prices for non-ferrous and specialty metals are spot-linked – they move daily with LME and London Metal Bulletin reference prices. Tungsten carbide, stainless steel, nickel alloys and precious metals are priced per element from the XRF or PMI result, which means a higher-cobalt carbide drum is worth measurably more than a low-cobalt one. Walk-in loads valued under $2,000 are paid by cheque on the day, immediately after the weighbridge and assay sign-off. Loads above that, or any pickup, are paid via EFT within 48 hours of you signing the assay. Trade accounts can elect net-7 or net-14 EFT terms with consolidated monthly statements. Funds arrive with the traceability PDF for your batch.

Yes – we accept lead-acid, alkaline and most industrial battery types, as well as lead sheet, lead weights, and other DG-class metallic waste. Lithium-ion is accepted only by prior arrangement and must be transported on a separate ticket. Larger DG consignments require a DG-class assessment before pickup, which typically adds 5-10 business days to scheduling.

Yes. Branded or proprietary tooling, IP-sensitive offcuts, and recalled stock can be handled under NDA, transported in sealed lockable containers, and witnessed-crushed on-site at our Malaga yard. We issue a certificate of destruction along with the standard traceability PDF; the downstream destination can be redacted if your procurement team requires it.
