Material recycling - 02
Stainless Steel
recycling.
316, 304, duplex and 400-series – plate, pipe, offcuts, swarf and vessel sections. PMI tested on arrival so you are paid on the grade you actually have, not the grade the yard assumes.
Why grade matters
The gap between 304 and 316
is your margin.
316 carries molybdenum. 304 does not. They look identical on a weighbridge and they are worth materially different money – which is exactly why a general yard is happy to buy both as “stainless.” We run positive material identification on every consignment and split the grades before they are weighed, so the premium ends up on your remittance instead of theirs.
What we accept
Stainless we buy, and what we send elsewhere.
We buy
316 and 316L plate, sheet, pipe and fittings.
304 and 304L vessel sections, tanks and hoppers.
Duplex and super-duplex pipe spools.
Machining swarf and turnings, baled or loose.
400-series wear plate and screen decks.
Mixed grade loads - we sort them, you keep the premium.
We don't take
Galvanised or coated carbon steel sold as stainless.
Loads contaminated with concrete, soil or timber.
Sealed vessels that have not been gas-freed.
Radioactive or NORM-flagged process equipment.
The process
Four steps. One yard.
- 01 / Step Materials Received Send photos and an approximate tonnage. Indicative rate back within four hours, bin or container on site from there.
- 02 / Step PMI Grade Test Handheld PMI on arrival. 316, 304, duplex and 400-series separated into discrete lots before anything crosses the weighbridge.
- 03 / Step Weigh & Log Each grade weighed as its own line on a 60-tonne NMI-certified weighbridge, photographed and ticketed against your reference.
- 04 / Step Payment Sent EFT within 48 hours of you signing the grade split. Weighbridge dockets and PMI results travel with the payment.
