Specialty metal recycling · Perth, WA

The metals we recycle,
each graded on its own terms.

Drill Bits Recyclers buys back tungsten carbide, drill bits, drill rods, high-speed steel, nickel alloys, stainless steel and more from mining, drilling and engineering operations across WA. Every material is separated, graded and priced on its own terms.

Why specialist sorting

Protect the value in each
specialty metal stream.

A yard that buys everything at a mixed-scrap rate has no reason to look past the weight ticket. Tungsten carbide gets weighed as steel. A stainless offcut gets weighed as steel. A drill rod alloy gets weighed as steel. The rate on the ticket is set for the cheapest thing in the load, and that is what you get paid.

Drill Bits Recyclers is named after drill bits, but the yard buys a wider list than that name suggests. We separate each load into tungsten carbide, high-speed steel, nickel alloy, stainless steel and the other applicable material streams, then price each stream against its grade. Since 2022 we have recycled over 1.3 million kilograms of material on that basis.

If you already know which material you have, use the list below to go straight to that page. For an unidentified load, use the list below and our carbide identification guide.

Beyond the streams listed below we also buy GET and wear parts, manganese crusher liners and jaw plates, titanium bar offcuts and machining turnings, tantalum process equipment and carbide grinding sludge. Send a photo of anything you are unsure about and we will tell you where it fits.

Every quotation states its own expiry, usually 24 to 72 hours depending on the material and market conditions, and contamination is deducted by weight rather than used to knock back a whole load.

Our process

Four steps, whichever material
you're sending.

From the first photo to payment, each load follows the same four-step path.

Tell us what you have and roughly how much. We'll tell you which material stream it falls into and what happens next.

Step 1
Bin or drop-off

We can drop a bin at your site or you can bring the load to Malaga.

Step 2
Sorted and priced by material

Each load is separated into its applicable material streams before pricing.

Step 3

Our commitments

Why work with
Drill Bits Recyclers.

The controls below apply whether the load comes from a workshop, a mine site or a scheduled cleanup.

01
Fast payments
Around 80% of loads ready for settlement are paid by EFT the same day. Material that still needs sorting or processing takes longer.
02
Free bin, free freight
No cost for the bin, no cost for the freight. The bin travels back to us on an existing backload run rather than on freight we charge for. We collect our own bin, not a general waste skip, so keep specialty metal out of a mixed skip if you want it priced as what it is.

ESG & responsible sourcing

What happens to material
once it leaves the yard.

Recovered metal avoids the fresh ore, concentration and smelting needed for primary production. The figures below show what is on record and where the evidence comes from.
