We buy used drill bits,
priced on their tungsten content

Tricone, PDC, DTH hammer, RC, top hammer, button and drag bits, worn, broken or unused, with or without the steel body still attached. Drill Bits Recyclers is a specialist buyer based in Malaga, WA, where each drill bit is graded by its tungsten carbide content, condition and attached steel.

How pricing works

What sets the price
of a used drill bit.

A general scrap yard may price a drill bit as steel. We assess the carbide, attached steel, contamination and condition separately, so the quote reflects what’s actually in the load.

What affects the price:

  • Tungsten and cobalt content
  • Attached steel, mud, grease and rock
  • Quantity and condition
  • The current market price for tungsten

Worn or broken bits can still have value. Send photos and a rough count for an assessment. For more detail, read Why Your Mining Drill Bits Are Worth More Than You Think.

Payment runs by EFT once the final weight and grade are confirmed. Around 80% of loads that are ready for settlement go out the same day, though a load that still needs sorting or further checking takes longer.

If you want to see the yard before you send anything, walk-throughs at Malaga are free but need to be booked ahead, since the team isn’t always on site outside a confirmed appointment. Every quotation we send carries its own expiry, commonly 24 to 72 hours, because the tungsten market price it’s built on moves.

Our commitments

Why work with
Drill Bits Recyclers.

01
Sorted by material
Your bits are assessed for tungsten and cobalt content and for the steel attached to them.
02
Free bin, free freight
No cost for the bin, no cost for the freight. The bin travels back to us on an existing backload run rather than on freight we charge for. We collect our own bin, not a general waste skip, so keep drill bits out of a mixed skip and they get priced as drill bits rather than as mixed steel.
